Coronation Street’s cloven-hooved troublemaker David Platt will be beaten to a pulp by a mystery assailant in a gripping whodunnit. In dramatic scenes to be aired later this summer, the teenager is left unconscious after being attacked in a back alley. What’s more, there’s no shortage of suspects…
Earlier this month, David indulged his inner villain by sending love rival Gary Windass to jail after framing him for burgling Audrey’s house. As a result, the entire Windass clan is out for revenge – and none more so than Gary’s scary uncle Len.
Another name in the frame is Jason Grimshaw, who’s dating David’s ex-girlfriend Tina McIntyre. On the day of the attack, Jason calls David a “sick little weirdo” and pins him against a wall, growling: “Maybe I should teach you a lesson you’ll never forget.”
Depressive Joe McIntyre also has an axe to grind after David encourages his mum and Joe’s girlfriend Gail to dump him, leaving him homeless. Just minutes before the attack, soap fans will see a furious Joe sitting alone in his van close to Coronation Street. Even David’s ex-love Tina is a suspect – especially as she doesn’t have an alibi for the night in question.
A Street mole told The Sun: “David’s assailant will be kept a closely guarded secret.” Grrr… typical! Our money’s on Noel Gallagher. Earlier this year the Oasis star revealed he’s a huge Corrie fan. “I could just have a walk-on part,” he told Radio 1 listeners. “Preferably punching David Platt’s face in.”
